Could you describe the activities? The activities program at Camp is rich, varied, and designed to meet the interests of each child. Every camper is encouraged to participate in all activities.
Swimming and Boating: Campers have one hour per day of swim instruction, as well as general swims. Diving, rowboats, canoes, kayaks, and fishing are also part of the waterfront program.
Sports: A variety of popular athletic activities are offered: softball, soccer, flag football, bicycling, track and field, volleyball, basketball, gymnastics, and wrestling.
Nature: The woods and streams surrounding Camp are "alive" with opportunities for learning experiences. There are many walking trails and fascinating landmarks. The Nature Center houses aquariums and habitats with insects, animals, and fish that are native to the area.
Learning and Computer Centers: Campers work with counselors individually or in small groups on a daily basis to reinforce reading, computer literacy and problem solving skills.
Challenge/Ropes Courses: Campers participate in a series of group activities involving controlled physical and emotional risk. They learn to deal with successes, failures, and their related feelings in a non-competitive, non-judgmental setting.
Wilderness: Campers learn to navigate by compass, hike in groups, set up a campsite and cookout. They take at least one overnight trip per session, enjoying a night under the stars.
Arts, Crafts, and Ceramics: Campers create projects using a variety of methods and materials. They receive instruction in the use of specialized tools and equipment.
Music, Drama, and Dance: Interested campers participate in a wide range of movement activities and other forms of self-expression.
Game Rooms and Playgrounds: There are many indoor and outdoor play areas, each with different kinds of equipment. From ping-pong to chess - roller skating to miniature golf - to swings and slides and climbing apparatus - Ramapo has it all!
