Each summer, Camp Ramapo serves more than 550 children with special needs in a beautiful and engaging outdoor environment. Ramapo kindles a spirit of hope in exceptional children. From anxious and fearful young girls and boys to teenagers struggling with emotional and learning problems, Camp Ramapo tries to offer youngsters opportunities for healthy growth and normal development.
Our activities are designed to promote confidence and build trust, and include: high and low ropes courses, hiking, orienteering, swimming, canoeing, kayaking, arts and crafts, ceramics, woodcraft, miniature golf, athletics, adventure and chess.
Campers live in rustic bunks with an average of six peers. Ramapo's high staff-to-child ratio, excellent training and close supervision of energetic, caring counselors ensure a safe, predictable and highly structured setting which fosters the development of positive social and learning skills. The result is a community in which campers build healthy relationships, increase self-esteem and improve learning skills.
Please fill out the camper application form, the summer food service program eligibility form, the health history form completely. Please distribute the professional report forms to your child’s teacher and counselor or therapist. These reports will help to determine whether our therapeutic program is appropriate for your child. Please have the child's physican complete the physical exam.
Please understand that Ramapo for Children will not review an application until we have received all the following forms.
· Camper Application
· Two Professional Reports
· Health History and Examination Form
We recommend that you stay in touch with the people completing the professional report(s) to make sure they have been completed, and then personally forward all the required materials together. Delay in acceptance indicates that the reports have not been returned. Since camp fills quickly, this may result in an opening not being available for your child. We recommend that you keep photo copies of completed forms for your reference, as we are unable to provide such if needed at a later date.
To apply for financial aid you must also complete the Reduced Camper Fee Application. You may qualify for a reduced fee even if you do not qualify for the Summer Food Service Program. The reduced fee is set on a sliding scale which is based on family income and need. The full fee for session I is $2,600.00, sessions II or III is $4,000.00, five week program is $7,000.00, six week program is $8,400.00 and the eight week program is $11,400.00. As soon as we evaluate the required information, the fee will be set and registration materials will be forwarded. |
